Michele Soncini

is a New Jersey fine marker and watercolor fine artist. She creates figure-based visual narratives that are very intricate and colorful with a lot going on. She wanted to have a website that focused on her work and showcased it, one with a simple minimalist design. Michele wanted grid galleries that opened up to a lightbox that showed the full image. Besides a gallery, MIchele also wanted an event page to show people where her artwork could be viewed and for other community events and festivals she was involved in..

One priority was that the website would be able to be easily updated by Michele who is a self-described “luddite.”

To make it very easy for Michele to enjoy her website and update it, we turned to Squarespace, where no updating of the platform is necessary and images and events are very easy to add. We also supplied in-depth training along with custom made videos so she could view them after training in case she needed a refresher.

We designed black and white and a font style that added drama without competing with her work. We used custom code to go beyond what Squarespace offers natively in order to add captions in the gallery lightbox and to make the events page as sleek as possible.
